When I first downloaded the software as a trial, I was able to access my NAS and create a timelapse of images stored on there. Now, that I've activated with the personal key, I have no way to see my NAS?

This is intended and works the same way in all type of licenses.
External drives are typically slow and unreliable. But users do not care and even try to preview from SD cards then complains about slow software. Thus we removed such drive from the list. You need to copy images to a local drive first then import.
Perhaps we could change this behavior but we are collecting feedbacks still.
